Hiring for a Senior Production Technician Role

January 26, 2024

About Us

Mirico (www.mirico.co.uk) is an innovative precision gas measurement company based in Oxfordshire, leveraging unique technology originally developed by RALSpace. We provide state-of-the-art laser spectroscopy solutions to accurately quantify and localise greenhouse gas emissions over large open areas enabling organisations to achieve their net-zero climate goals.

Our Orion sensor products generate large volumes of data as they scan the environment for emissions 24 hours-per-day, 7 days a week. The measurements are processed on-board the instrument before transmission to our cloud analysis platform which leverages custom atmospheric modelling, transforming raw measurements into detailed emissions information.

Mirico believes the first step to reducing greenhouse gas emissions is to quantify them. We are working with a range of research and commercial organisations to prove, develop and perfect our technologies. We are a small, fast-paced team integrating unique hardware and software in a friendly, collaborative environment.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, practical, and hands-on individual who is excited about technology and eager to join a small and growing technical team who are making a difference in the field of greenhouse gas emissions monitoring with innovative technology.  You will apply your experience and develop new skills in a highly rewarding environment and help MIRICO accelerate its product and service provision activities.

You will have a key role in the production and development of our ORION instruments, which is based on state-of-the-art laser spectroscopy. This will involve:

  • assembling the instrument and its accessories
  • testing at various production stages
  • developing and validating assembly and test processes and documentation
  • supervising others as needed and ensuring defined processes are followed
  • assisting in service and maintenance of instruments and accessories
  • contributing to continuous improvement of the instrument design
  • participating in Mirico’s agile delivery methodology
  • supporting best practices in health, safety, and environmental management
  • supporting inventory management
  • prototyping and design support for research and development projects

Your day-to-day responsibilities will further develop your understanding of optics, electronics, and mechanics as you ensure that our ORION instruments are assembled and precisely aligned and verified by component and modular level test routines. By performing these tasks, you will play an important role in ensuring product quality and manufacturability to deliver reliable, repeatable, and high-quality products.

About you

You have good experience in manufacturing of complex technical systems, supervising small production teams, and knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality systems. Your keen observation of issues encountered during production has highlighted opportunities for improvement. You are skilled in production techniques such as optomechanical assembly. It will be desirable if you also have experience of electronics assembly and soldering.

Your development

Mirico is a small company – less than 18 people in total – so in this role you’ll make a significant and meaningful impact right from the beginning as we transition from a small technology company into manufacturing a world class product. You will be an integral part of an extremely hard-working and knowledgeable technical team with ample amounts of experience for you to absorb and build from, and grow your career within the company.
